One of the advantages of using modern aluminum profile tractor is that when the aluminum profile reaches the correct extrusion length, the tractor has the function of controlling the extruder to stop extrusion. This is similar to the non-extrusion cycle, but since the extruded aluminum profile is just the required length, there is no waste of extrusion time. Thus, additional cost savings can be achieved by reducing waste and at the same time saving the transport and recycling of extruded waste.

After extruding aluminum profiles from the extruder, the more important goal is to increase production and deliverability by reducing waste, and to ship more products to customers. Any waste produced after extrusion will be very costly, so in the subsequent process to minimize the production of waste. To reduce waste to a minimum, it is necessary to cut through the park marks (the marks left by the die on the profile during the non-extrusion cycle).

There are only two techniques that can be used to achieve a saw cut at a stop mark - namely a flying saw cut and a dual length system. Flying saw cutting technology refers to the process of sawing in the extrusion process. With the flying saw cutting technology, the profile can be cut off at the parking mark after the parking mark comes out from the extruder. Double length system refers to the cutting off between the first and second profiles in the non-extrusion cycle after the second profile is extruded.

Both technologies have their advantages. The dual length system can provide two extrusion cycles of air cooling time, which is very beneficial for building alloys. However, the flying saw cutting system is less costly (equipment costs and plant space costs) and allows one-bar multi-cut operation without stopping the extruder.

Both techniques can increase the yield by 1 to 2 per cent (from 1 to 2 per cent of scrap material, it has now been converted into a qualified product that can be sent to customers). From scrap to deliverable products, this is a direct conversion of high value-added profiles, which brings huge economic benefits. If this increase is calculated as 1% and our aforementioned cost of 2,860.00 yuan per hour is taken as an example, then compared with the tractor system that cannot be sawed at the parking mark, the cost over 1,000,000.00 yuan can be saved in the 5-year recovery period.
